Asmi Shah

I am a Computer Scientist, basically from India. I did my bachelor in Computer Engineering from Saurashtra University, India. I pursued my master’s in Computer Science from San Jose State University, USA. My master’s thesis-work was related to DNA sequence representation with machine learning approach. My research interests are Bioinformatics, High Throughput Data Handling, Visual Information Retrieval on Web, and Multidimensional Imageset Visualization.

PhD Project as part of BOLD:

The main focus of this project is to provide the users with a common platform to retrieve, visualize and analyze ultra large image based datasets generated from various high content and high throughput screening techniques. With the emerging high throughput techniques and time lapse imaging the data generated per experiment is growing enormously. The goal is to integrate and compare different microscopic experimental datasets in a single model incorporated into web based browser application. To achieve this step, firstly, the image based datasets need to be searchable over the distributed network of servers where the data is stored for long term, which can be done by the use of image based search engine technology - not just the conventional text based search engines.
