Padma Putta

I obtained a Masters degree in Biochemistry from the University of Hyderabad, India. Later I did a diploma course in Bioinformatics, which was followed by a PhD from the University of Hyderabad, India. My PhD thesis included sequence analysis of promoters in which a set of relatively conserved GC-rich sequences was identified around the TSS. Gene expression and regulation at the transcriptional level is my main area of interest, which I would like to work on further.

I joined Ferenc Mueller’s research group (Medical School, University of Birmingham) in July 2011 as a postdoctoral fellow. In line with BOLD objectives, my project includes development of transcriptional regulatory networks in endoderm differentiation in zebrafish in collaboration with BOLD partners. I am working with bioinformatics analysis of genome and transcriptome data, identification and functional analysis of cis- regulatory elements in liver and pancreas development.
